Mr. Riggs was first born on June 9th, 1941, in Louisville, Ky. More importantly, to know about Brother Coy was he was born again by the mercy of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 12, 1951, and baptized a few weeks later into the Church. These two things meant more to him than any other.
Coy joined the Army in 1961 and proudly served his country. He started at Fort Knox in his old Kentucky home, then went to Fort Benning, GA. During his service, his friend Earl Coleman invited him to go to church at Hopewell Baptist in Bessemer, AL. While attending service his eyes fell on a pretty, young girl and inquiries were made.
If you knew Coy, you know the story of how he met his one and only true love, Margaret Donaldson. He knew she was the one and they were wed on July 18, 1964.
Over 62 years later, the love they shared never failed them. God, Church, and Family were the tenants of his life, and he never compromised on this foundation.
Faithful, Strong, Smart, Fair, Honest, and so much more. He loved his family with all his heart and anyone else that would allow him. He was the most loyal friend you could have.
He preached the Word of God faithfully for over 59 years and his faith in God and his calling never wavered.
We will miss you, Dad

We do our very best to walk in the pathway that you trod so faithfully.
