David E Watson

David “PiePie” E. Watson of Gardendale, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 at the age of 82. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. He enjoyed working at Latta Plumbing, mowing his lawn, racing golf carts, spoiling his grandchildren, and most of all serving others. David was a member of Mount Olive Church of Christ.

David is preceded in death by his son, Brian D. Watson; daughter-in-law, Shari Watson; and sister, Elizabeth Dillard. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judith “Judy” Watson; his son, Shawn Watson and fiancé Renea Drake; his sister, Peggy Poe; his grandchildren, Bellamy Thompson and her husband Dakota, Christopher Watson, Jenea Looney and her husband Nick, and Payton Drake and his wife Gracie; his great grandchildren, Drakeston and Kamden Looney; his friends, Tina and Allen Camper, Terry Keeton, and Drennen Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12th, 2023 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The American Cancer Society in memory of David.
