Ms. Bates, a resident of Gardendale, AL, passed away at the age of 78. She was a former member of Gardendale Baptist Tabernacle and worked for many years in the school’s daycare. She was active until the very end with her genuine love of others including her many friends and customers. She lived a full life and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, RJ Bates. She is survived by her daughter, Victoria Lowe (Greg); granddaughters, Andrea Vaughan (Brian) of Palmyra, VA, Apryl McCurdy (Mark) of Anniston, AL; great-granddaughter, Yzabela McCurdy; brother, Jimmy Anderson (Sandy) of Prattville, AL; Sisters Margaret McGowan of Guin, AL, and Stella Isabel (Stan) of Marietta, GA; 6 nephews, and a host of friends.
Her family will receive friends at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Sunday, January 25 from 5:30pm until 8:00pm. A graveside service will be held in Moncrief Cemetery on Monday, January 26 at 11:00am.
