Dorothy H. Holley was born on September 25, 1928 in Belmont Mississippi to W. A. and Ruth Deaton Hamilton. She is survived by her two sons: Donny (JoAnn) Holley and Ronald (Cathy) Holley; grandchildren: Crystal (Ken) Evans, Caleb Holley and Blair Green; great granddaughters: Faith, Hope and Abby Grace Evans, Saydee Jo Green and Hannah Wells; two loving sisters Shirley Goddard and Barbara Farrow, stepsisters Francis Whisenat and Pat Uptain, stepbrother Jimmy Moore, a host of nieces and nephews and too many extended family to mention.
Mrs. Holley was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Truman Holley, her stepmother Lois Hamilton and her sister Sylvia Hamilton.
After graduating from Belmont High School, Mrs. Holley attended North East Mississippi Junior College on a basketball scholarship for two years and later played for the Booneville RedHeads. She taught school in Iuka, Mississippi for one year and then later retired from the Jefferson County School System where she worked in the cafeteria at Gardendale Schools.
Mrs. Holley, more commonly known as Dot, was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman and a strong prayer warrior. She was an active member of Gardendale First Baptist Church for 56 years where she was in involved with her Sunday School Class, the Senior Adult Choir and worked in the church library. If you ever walked in the Family Life Center, you probably saw her doing her morning laps and were greeted with a smile.
Many thanks to Earth Angels In-Home Care, SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice and for all the cards and prayers that she has received over the past few weeks. Mrs. Holley lived a full life and was blessed with a host of close friends and family.
