Dorothy Lucille Johnston

Dot was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved her family dearly and cherished all the time she was able to spend with them. She was a member of Pineywood Baptist Church. She loved to laugh and she filled everyone’s life with laughter. Her family’s favorite saying was simply “it’s all about Dot.”

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Pauline Quick, her husband, Dave Johnston; two sons, Steve Johnston and Bill Johnston and his wife Kelly; sister, Evelyn Thomas and her husband Earl; one son-in-law, Ted Haywood.

Dot is survived by three daughters, Nancy Haywood, Susan Collins and her husband Scott Collins, and Christy Jones and her husband Alan Jones; one daughter-in-law, Denise Johnston; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; three favorite nephews, Mike, Tim, and Paul Thomas.

Celebration of Life services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Saturday, September 28, 2019 with a time of visitation to begin at 10:00am; funeral service at 11:00am, followed by her burial in Moncrief Cemetery, Gardendale, Alabama.
