Dorothy Hanson Moseley of Birmingham passed away with her family at her side after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Hanson. She is survived by her husband of over 35 years, Alan Moseley; her mother, Mrs. Willie Hanson, her brother, Johnny Hanson (Jo) and her sister, Gayla McCleney (Jim) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Holly Pond, AL she moved to Birmingham and was a graduate of Green Acres Elementary and Jones Valley High School. She obtained her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science and Mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She pursued a PhD at UAB, University of Tennessee Knoxville, and at the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa. She left school to begin a career in banking with AmSouth Bank. Later her career paths took her to a Senior Vice-President position with Colonial Bank, a position with The Whitney of New Orleans and finally with Regions Bank from which she retired earlier in 2015.
She was a brilliant woman with a kindness and gentle nature that hid her great strength. A soft spot in her heart existed for all animals and especially her canine family. A loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank her Brookwood Baptist Church family, Vitas Hospice Services, and Natasha Jones of Lipford Home Health Services for their support. Memorials in her name would be welcomed by the American Cancer Society and the Birmingham Humane Society.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 17th, at Brookwood Baptist Church at 3449 Overton Road from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 PM with family receiving friends from 1 PM until service time. Burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale, AL.
