Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1985-1994. Ed served as a crew Chief and aircraft mechanic on the A10's and the OV10's. He was an expert marksman, a technical trainer, load team member for Desert Shield, and Desert Storm. He received his Airframe and Power Plant mechanic license and bachelor's from Georgia College and State University. Ed married the love of his life in June 1989. His career landed them in Hawaii, South Carolina, Texas, Georgia, and Alabama.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Hoover Thompson, son Grant Thompson and wife Kayla, and two precious granddaughters, Harper and Iris. And his constant buddy, Gus.
He is preceded in death by his dad Edwin B. Thompson Sr., and his mom Sandra P. Thompson.
Ed never met a stranger and was known for his quick wit, pitiful dad jokes, never-ending knowledge, and opinions. His goal was to make people laugh or roll their eyes and he was great at bringing up conversations about the Lord to random people he met in Wal-Mart or on the street. He loved all genres of music and daily made-up hilarious songs.
He was a great son, husband, father, brother, and Poppa. He is missed.
