OBITUARY

Evelyn Davis

September 5, 1930February 18, 2021

Evelyn B. Davis passed away on February 18th, 2021, at the age of 90. Evelyn was born in Dillworth, AL, and spent her life in Birmingham and Gardendale. She moved to Decatur, AL, in 2011, and spent her last year in Moulton, AL. Evelyn was a loved and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her family was her passion. She was the oldest of 7 children and dedicated herself to providing for her family and raising her siblings. Evelyn poured her heart and soul into her family, making sure each of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews knew how much they were loved. Her family knew her for her devotion to her Savior, her big heart, her strength of character, her determination, and her feisty personality. Along with her family, she enjoyed camping and traveling, frequenting numerous lakes and Tannehill, trekking across the continental U.S. and Canada, and she made a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Rocky Mountains, where she always longed to visit. She was an avid outdoorswoman, going fishing and hiking, and she made friends everywhere she went. She passed on her knowledge of cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, crocheting, and knitting to her daughters and granddaughters, along with memorable and valuable life lessons. Evelyn has joined dearly missed family members in heaven, most notably the enduring love of her life, her husband, Harold Davis. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Verla Moses and Kresson Butler; her brothers Kenny and Wimp Butler; two stillborn siblings; and her son-in-law Larry Patterson. She is survived by her sister, Louise Geer; her brother, Milton Butler (Morrel Butler) two daughters, Jean Patterson and Debra Griffis; her son-in-law, Rev. Jeffrey Griffis; her 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Patterson, Terri Ballinger (Brian Ballenger), Dr. Joseph Griffis (Tana Birky), Bethany Griffis, Charissa Franklin (Austin Franklin), and James Griffis; her great-grandson, Jason Patterson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. Evelyn will be profoundly missed by her family and friends, on all of whom she made a considerable impact, but she is celebrating her reunion with Jesus and with her husband. Her family will carry on her legacy and memory, knowing they will be together again very soon in eternity.
