Florence Lillian Hurst

Florence Lillian Hurst, a resident of Gardendale, AL, passed away peacefully on Oct 4, 2024 at the age of 78. Florence was a member of Powderly Church of Christ where she attended for many years. She loved her dogs and cats and was a friend to all animals. She was a member of the Star Trek Club. She enjoyed arts and crafts and taught Art for many years in the Birmingham school system at Parker High School, Jones Valley Middle School, and Jones Valley High School. She received her undergraduate degree at Samford University and her Master in Counseling at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She also had a Masters of Art from University of Montevallo.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Eleanor Hurst and her sister, Patricia Hicks; and her beloved dog, Skippy. Florence is survived by cousins, Steve (Barbara) Arendale, James (Sharon) Arendale, and Jeanette (Donald) Ristow, and a host of friends.

Services be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel on Wed, Oct 9, 2024 with a visitation at 1-2 pm; funeral service at 2:00 pm, followed by her burial in Moncrief Cemetery, Gardendale, AL.
