Gail Frances Southern

Gail Frances Sheets Southern, a resident of Jasper, Alabama was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 13, 1943 and she passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2018 surrounded by her family. Gail worked for 20 years with the Social Security Administration in Birmingham, Alabama as a Benefits Claims Authorizer. She was a loving and kind person and she always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved to knit and could knit anything. She volunteered with a hospice. She loved her family and she will be greatly missed.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Raymond Sheets and Charlie Mae Tisdale Sheets, Her husband of 39 years, William Doris “Dot” Southern, Sr.; and a sister, Janice Marie Sheets Campbell.

Gail is survived by her three children, William D. “Bill” Southern, Jr., Rebecca “Becky” Southern Rigsby and her husband Leonard Rigsby, and Douglas “Doug” Ray Southern and his wife, Andrea Southern; a brother, Frank R. Sheets, Jr. and his wife Lynda Sheets; a granddaughter, Miranda Lane Southern, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at Blount Springs Baptist Church, 8770 US Hwy 31, Hayden, Alabama on Sunday, June 17, 2018 with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm; funeral service at 3:00pm, followed by her burial at Cane Creek Cemetery, Warrior, Alabama.
