George James Gerson, age 85 of Fultondale, AL passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. He was born in Beaver Falls, PA and graduated from Holy Name High School in Cleveland, Ohio. George was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Gardendale and retired with 40 years of service as a Master Wood Pattern Maker. He served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Marine Corp and also was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Julia Gerson; his son, Craig Gerson; a brother, Norman Gerson; and a sister, Alice Wismer. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Caroline Monella Gerson; his sons, Norman Gerson (Marie), George Gerson (Stephanie), Gary Gerson, and Jim Gerson; his daughter, Gail Randazzo, and daughter-in-law, Ginger Gerson; brothers, Robert Gerson (Pat) and Jack Gerson (Toki); and a sister, Barbara Cartwright (John); 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 9th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Gardendale beginning at 11 am with visitation from 9:30 until service time. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Father Michael Deering will officiate.
