George Norris Skelton

May 6, 1923 – Oct 20, 2016

George Skelton, of Fultondale, AL, passed away peacefully at the age of 93. George proudly served our Nation in the U.S. Navy, Pacific Tour during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 255, Fultondale, AL, and a member of the Chrysanthemum Society. He was an avid gardener and loved to raise Chrysanthemums.

George was preceded in death by his son, Billy Joe Skelton; son in law, Phillip Eidson, and five siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Lavonia Skelton, daughters, Shelby Phillips (Larry) and Tenny Eidson; grandchildren, Renee’ Satterfield (Frankie), Georgia Flowers (Michael), Wayne Jennings (Michele), Tim Bowen, Mary Jo Martin (Phillip) and Janie Johnson; 17 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be held Sunday, October 23rd with a visitation to begin at 12:30pm; funeral service at 2:00pm followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
