Harvey Lee Smith, age 77 of Warrior, AL, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 11, 2026. He was surrounded by family prior to going home to the Lord. His sons and daughter were by his side at the time of his passing.
Harvey was a world class husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor, and friend. He lived a full life surrounded by family. He experienced overwhelming joy and undeserved sorrow and pain.
Harvey graduated from Banks High School then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged as Sergeant Harvey Smith. Harvey worked in the fabrication industry. He spent 25+ years at Stockham Valves and Fittings, where he met his beloved wife of 30 plus years, Shirley. He finished his career at Southern Ductile Casting Corp. as Core Room Supervisor.
Harvey was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt, build and ride off-road vehicles and just spend time outdoors. He could build or fix anything and accomplish whatever he set his mind to. He loved to fish tournaments on Saturdays and watch the Crimson Tide. Sundays were about his family and Dale Earnhardt, NASCAR.
Harvey was an extremely motivated and hard worker. He instilled these values in all of his children. Harvey took special time with each child, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren of his ever growing blended family. This started with his two boys and their loving mother, Judy and continued with his beloved wife Shirley and her three children. He taught lessons and told bad dad jokes to include “pull my finger” and “beans beans”. He learned these life family values from his beloved mother, Lenora Jo Partridge, who always held a huge place in his heart. More than anything, Harvey loved his family, his dogs, his truck and his hobbies.
Harvey is survived by his children, Jason Smith (Lauren), Jonathan Smith (Joanie), Kenneth Edwards (Suzanne), Venita Edge and son-in-law, Joseph Keane; his grandchildren, Kristina Marcais, Heather Arthur, Christopher Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Cara Smith, Macy Box, Conner Wahl, Jacob Box, and Sawyer Smith; and great grandchildren, Natalee, Harper, Charlee, Alexandra, and Elizabeth Kate. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Smith, sister, JoAnn Rodda, Daughter, Angela Keane, and grandson, David Edwards.
Visitation will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, Alabama, on August 15, 2026, at 2:00 pm., with a Celebration of Life Service to take place at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, following the visitation at 3:00 pm.
