Henry Edsel Snow

Henry Edsel Snow, age 93, passed away on June 10, 2023. He was born April 20, 1930 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Clarence and Ellen Jo Addie Hannah Snow; brothers, Ernest Snow and Bobby Snow and wife, Mamie York Snow. A 1948 graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School he graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Henry was raised in the Methodist faith and was baptized into the Church of Christ later in life. In 1976 he retired as a supervisor in the utilities department at the U.S. Steel Corporation.

Respected and loved by his family, he was affectionately called “PaPa Henry” by his step-children Jacky Dial (Patty), Billy Dial (Nancy) and Glenda Williamson (Billy). He is also survived 7 step-grandchildren, Jaclynn, Justin, Brandon, Tiffany, Emily, Sara and Daniel along by 7 step-great grandchildren, 2 nieces, Jenny Thorgourd (George) and Cheryl Forrester (Tim) and 3 nephews, Bill Snow (Karen), Donald Snow (Janet) and Mike Snow (Wendy).

Henry was an avid -fan of the Auburn Tigers, golfer, enthusiastic gardener, a keen planner and a dedicated, passionate and devoted husband to the love of his life, Mamie.

A visitation for Henry will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM.
