James “Oscar” Belcher, age 85 of Gardendale passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, July 15, 2012. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, a US Army veteran and was retired from Wilson Foods. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ida B. Belcher; daughter, Deborah James (Talmadge); sons: Mark Belcher (Karen) and Rodney Belcher (Loria); eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brother, Maburn “Bill” Belcher. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
