

Jim was born in Shelby County, Alabama and grew up near Shelby.
He attended Shelby Elementary, Columbiana Middle School, Shelby County High School, and graduated W.A. Berry High School in Hoover Alabama. Jim was active in 4H while attending school in Shelby County.
Jim worked on the family farm, and helped in the family business until joining the Air Force right after graduation. Jim served both domestically and in Europe for almost 9 years.
After military service, Jim worked at Central Auto Care in Homewood for nearly 38 years. During that time he became involved in attending and servicing in church at Warrior Assembly of God, where he met and married Ruth Chadbourne, and worked in ministry to prisoners at Bullock Correctional Facility.
Jim is survived by Ruth, to whom he was married 17 years; his brother Robert (Pam); and numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation is scheduled Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Gardendale Ridout's Chapel from 10:00 until 11:00. Funeral begins at 11:00 and graveside to follow.
