He was born April 10, 1931, in Jefferson County AL to Hoyt and Myrtice (Wooten) Peoples.
Ray served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War before enjoying a long
profession as a welder. He was a member of Green Station Baptist Church, and served as Church Trustee
and Deacon of Oak Station Baptist Church for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years Betty Joyce (Moore) Peoples, his parents,
Hoyt and Myrtice Peoples, brothers Willis Peoples and Hugh Peoples, sisters Ruth Campbell and Doris
McKinney.
He is survived by his son Barry Ray Peoples (Melissa), his daughter Deborah Joyce Hawkins (Wayne),
grandchildren Heath Wayne Hawkins (Nicole), Patricia Gail Larue (Chris), Caitlyn Grace Peoples, and
Walker Livingston Peoples, and his sister Audrey Leech. He also leaves behind 2 great-grandchildren
Brandon Wayne Hawkins (Sara), and Jeremy Blake Hawkins (Keely) as well as 5 great-great grandchildren
Barrett, Kaceton, Carter, Isabella and Natalie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at 12:00 Noon, Friday August 12th 2022 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Trussville
