Jimmy was a lifelong resident of his hometown of Morris, Alabama. He was a graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School. He is survived by his wife Sandra Mitchell Pugh, three children, Sallie (Brian) Barham, James (Connie) Pugh, Kimberly (Luis) Ortiz; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth (Caleb) Wilson, Alaina (John) Colson, Hayley Barham ( fiancé Houston), Marc (Anna Kathryn) Pugh, Emily (Jacob) Burns, Adrianna (Ryan) Denney, Jeff (Samantha) Reno, Jonathan (Leslie) Ortiz and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Gay Pugh; brother, John Thomas Pugh; and sisters Bobbye Reid and June Reid.
Jimmy loved to garden, working with his tractors, spending time at the lake, traveling, and coaching and watching his children and grandchildren playing sports and playing in the band. He loved his grands and everyone had a nickname.
Jimmy retired from Acipco after 37 years of employment, serving as Track foreman and Assistant Supervisor in General Yards.
He was a member of Pinson Church of Christ and served as a deacon for many years.
A visitation for Mr. Pugh will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. The Pugh family will be receiving guests from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, with a Celebration of Life Service following at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Morris Cemetery.
