

James E. Wren, III age 66 of Birmingham, AL passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. Mr. Wren was a Birmingham native and a graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He was a Process Engineer for US Pipe for 26 years and retired in 2005. He loved God, enjoyed scuba diving, spelunking, canoeing, hiking, and bird watching. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wonderful wife of 42 years, Pat Travis Wren; sons, James “Jimmy” E. Wren IV (Alison Reed Wren), and Matt Wren; his daughters, Leah Wren McBride (Jeremiah McBride) and Sharon Wren Nichols (Greg Nichols); mother, Dorothy Hamrick Wren; a brother, Lee Wren (Deborah); and sisters, Ann Wren Hicks (Randy) and Nancy Wren; six grandchildren, Ashley Wren, Ethan McBride, Emmy Wren, Nate McBride, Makayla Nichols, and Elijah Nichols. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Wren, Jr.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 22nd at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel at 2 PM with a visitation beginning at 1 PM. The family requests in lieu of flowers please make donations to John Croyle’s Big Oak Ranch.
