Born on October 9, 1946, to William Ellis Franklin and Merle Lambert Franklin, Janice grew up in Eastlake, Alabama and graduated from Woodlawn High School.
Janice accepted her Lord and Savior into her heart, was baptized, and served as a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Mount Olive for many years.
In her spare time, Janice enjoyed playing tennis, camping, cooking, crocheting, spending time with her family, and cheering on the Auburn Tigers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her precious husband, David Gibbs, her brother, Bill Franklin (Vicky), her sister, Faye Powers (Eddie), and her great niece, Meredith Powers.
Janice is survived by her precious son Scott Gibbs and his loving wife, Stacy. In addition, she is survived by her granddaughters Madison and Mallory Gibbs, whom she loved dearly.
She also leaves behind her niece Sherri Wade (David) and her nephews Greg Powers (Donna) and Jeff Powers (Jhan ), along with her great nephews, Matt Wade (Chloe), Ethan Powers(Rachel), Adam Powers(Jacie), Austin Wade, Dalton Wade, Jacob Powers(Skylar) and her great niece, Sera Powers Bobo(Hunter). She was a great-great aunt to Evie and Easton Wade and Riggins, Jett, Reece, Eli ,Ty, and Kate Powers.
Family will receive visitors on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 11:00-12:00. The funeral will be at 12:00 at Ridout's Chapel in Gardendale at 2029 Decatur Highway with Entombment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens' Mausoleum at 2100 Moncrief Road. Brother Al Elmore, from First Baptist Mount Olive, is officiating the services.
