Jessie Clyde “J.C.” Files age 78 of Gardendale, AL passed away on February 23, 2017. Early on, J.C. served in the U.S. Army. A fixture in the Gardendale community, J.C. owned and operated Files Discount Tire where you find him helping the people of our area for decades. He was a member of Gardendale Rotary Club and a member of Gardendale’s First Baptist Church where he also served as an usher for many years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Jo Woodard Files; Children, Randy (Pam) Files of Morris, Jeana Files (Wade) Layne of Dauphin Island and Jay Christopher (Ashley) Files of Mt. Olive; grandchildren, Rachael Layne of Cullman, Sophia Layne of Hamilton, Ryan (Christen) Files of Birmingham, Bailey Files of Morris, and Madison and Lauren Files of Mt. Olive.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Friday February 24, 2017 from 5:30 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Services will be officiated by Rev. Mark Harrison with special music by Bro. George Weeks.
