Jeanne was widowed by the death of her husband of 43 years in 2016 and a loving mother to her two children, Michael Gordon and Jennifer Colleen. Jeanne was an ordained elder in her church, Gardendale Presbyterian Church, and as such served three active terms. She served on many church committees, either as a member or chairperson. She was involved in various outreach projects, including servicing at the Men's Firehouse Shelter, donating homemade items to First Light, a shelter for women, and also to the Presbyterian Children's Home. Jeanne retired from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2007, after 35 years of employment. She also authored a book, A Psalm, A Prayer, and A Promise, in 2008.

The family will hold a private graveside service at the Alabama National Cemetery.
