Jeptha William Worth “Jep” Elkins, a resident of Birmingham, Alabama, was born in New Castle, Alabama on February 6, 1924 and he passed away peacefully on May 2, 2018 at the age of 94. Jep retired from Chicago Bridge International after 43 years of service. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed the time he spent with them and he loved to read.
Jep was preceded in death by his parents, Jeptha and Stella Elkins; two brothers, Erskine Elkins and Carr “Gene” Elkins; eight sisters, Gladys Campbell, Pearl Horne, Sudie Campbell, Geneva Moore, Lola Foster, Jeanette Elkins, Vera Stewart, and Euna Drummonds.
Jep is survived by one brother, Franklin Elkins; twenty two nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and family.
The family extends special thanks to his care givers who took such good care of him and to the staff of Comfort Care Hospice.
Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Monday, May 7, 2018 with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm; funeral service at 2:00pm followed by his burial in Walker Chapel Cemetery, Fultondale, Alabama.
