Jimmy Don Belcher Sr., age 82, of Orange Park, Florida passed away on Saturday September 14, 2019. Jimmy was born January 14, 1937. Jimmy was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving honorably during the Korean War, he loved to Bass fish and was an avid outdoorsman, he also was a member of the Masonic Lodge. In 1967 Jimmy was part of the team that built the first nuclear cooling towers in the United States and his extensive career in civil and nuclear engineering took him around the United States and abroad where he was instrumental in building nuclear power plants. Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved son Michael Ira Belcher, his grandson Joshua David Belcher and a brother Perry Belcher. Jimmy was a devout family man and leaves behind his true love of 63 years his devoted wife Shirley Ann Belcher, his two sons Jimmy D. Belcher Jr. and David Allen Belcher. Jimmy is also survived by his grandchildren Michael Ira Belcher Jr., Luke Nathanel Belcher, Marisa Lee Curry, and Joshua David Belcher as well as 7 great-grandchildren and a brother Jerald C. Belcher.
A celebration of life visitation for Jimmy will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A celebration of life service will occur Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mt. Olive, Alabama 35117.
