He retired from Plumbers Local 91 and he loved to fish, hunt, watch Alabama football, and the Atlanta Braves Baseball team. He was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church for 32 years and loved the Lord and his family very much.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty Butler; children, Teri Fortenbury, Kenneth Butler, James Waldrop, Pat Trice, Kathy Paxton, and Andy Waldrop; brother, David E. Butler; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father George W. Butler and mother Mary Ruth Paxton.
A visitation for Joe will be held Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A burial will occur at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, Alabama 35071.
