

John Weichler proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force before beginning a remarkable 66-year career as a master carpenter. He was known for his exceptional craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and pride he took in every project. Through his skilled hands, he built not only homes but also a legacy of dedication, honesty, and excellence. John also loved to travel, fish, and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Ila Faye; his son, Randy Langley; his parents, Velma and John Weichler; his brother, David E. Weichler; and sister, Evelyn Gibson.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, unwavering love, and example of hard work that touched the lives of all who knew him. His memory will be treasured by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his daughter, Anita Hodges (Kenneth); son, David J. Weichler (Cathy); 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Sherry Sorenson.
Visitation will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, Alabama 35071, on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery, 3200 Mt. Olive Road, Mt. Olive, AL 35117, US, on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:30 am.
