Jose Alexis Bennett of Hayden, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Jose was born in Honduras on March 30, 1997. As an infant, he was lovingly adopted by the Bennett family and, in September 1997, flew on American Airlines to his new home in Alabama—a place where he would build a life filled with faith, friendship, compassion, and inspiration.
Jose was blessed to work at Leaf & Petal Gardens in Cahaba Heights. Surrounded by the beauty of God's creation each day, he was constantly reminded of the Author and Creator of all things. He found joy in nature and appreciated the beauty that reflected God's handiwork.
Jose was a regular attendee of both Brookside Church of God and First Baptist Church Mount Olive, where he was deeply loved by his church families. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was encouraged and supported by many friends who cherished him as a brother in Christ.
Anyone who knew Jose could not help but love him. His infectious personality, warm smile, and genuine concern for others made a lasting impression wherever he went. He became an inspiration to countless people throughout the years as he spent much of his time cruising through Birmingham in his bright red Dodge Challenger, always looking for someone to encourage, help, or simply brighten with a kind word. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved him, his family and friends rejoice in knowing that his suffering has come to an end.
The visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Ridout's Funeral Home in Gardendale. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Gardendale immediately afterward.
Jose's memories, laughter, kindness, and unwavering spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was deeply loved by so many and will be greatly missed, but his legacy of compassion, and encouragement will endure for years to come.
