

Judy McCormick Butler, a resident of Kimberly, AL was born October 21st, 1954 and passed away peacefully in her home on October 17th, 2017 at the age of 62. Judy retired after 36.5 years of federal service with the Mining Safety and Health Administration where she became the first female Mine Inspector in the United States of America. She received a Master Gardner Certification from Wallace State Community College and loved to garden. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Kimberly.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Butler; her parents, Charles and Jadean McCormick and nephew, Luke Wallace and great niece, Haylie Darden.
Judy is survived by her three sisters, Robin Darden (Jr) of McCalla, AL, Melanie Wallace (Sammy) of Brent, AL, and Gabbi McCormick (Kelley) of Nashville, TN; two step-sons, Jason Butler (Kristi) of Smoke Rise, AL, and Kevin Butler (Debbie) of Pelham, AL; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; one niece; three nephews; three great nieces; three great nephews, and a host of friends.
Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Friday, October 20, 2017 with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm; funeral service at 2:00pm followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
