

Judy was born and raised in Lewisburg Alabama. She attended elementary school in the community and graduated from Phillips High School 1955. Soon after graduation, she married Albert Brown and moved to California. There a short time she and Al returned to Alabama.
Her chosen occupation was Dental Hygiene. During her career, she cleaned teeth for countless different patients and worked for several local dentist practices. She retired around 8 years ago to enjoy a work free life.
God and the church were a very important part of her life. She attended Gardendale First Baptist Church and was active by being a Sunday School Teacher and singing in the choir. She also served on committees administering to the sick and elderly.
Judy was an active member of the Gardendale Historical Society and Garden Club and the Red Hat Society.
Judy loved to learn and would attend poetry and book readings at the Birmingham Downtown library. She loved to travel and she and Al crisscrossed the United States from coast to coast.
Judy was preceded in death by her Mother Evelyn O’Neal and Father R.O Ellard; sister, Kathryn Ankeny.
Judy is survived by her husband Albert F. Brown; two daughters, Cosette Brown, Kelly Splawn (Mike), and Cathy Dement (who she considered a daughter); grandchildren, Samuel, Julia and Claire Splawn; great granddaughter, Zuri Splawn; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a Life Celebration will be held at a later date.
