

Leitha Love, affectionately known as “MeMaw,” of Gardendale, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 28th, 2024, at age 77. She was selfless, loving, fiercely protected her family, and always put others before herself. “MeMaw” was happiest when she was with her family and wanted to be part of all they did. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were family.
She was a retired School Bus Driver for the Jefferson County School System and considered each child her own. She was a faithful member of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church, where she could easily be found in the kitchen or working with the children in “King’s Kids.”
She is survived by her husband, Jonathan Love; children, Teresa Hamrick (Chris) and Jonathan Love, Jr. (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Stetson Hicks (Brooke), Kyle Hamrick, Avery Hamrick, and Carter Love; two great grandchildren, Aiden and Aubrey; two sisters Ellen Ragland, and Diane Harper (James); and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Evie Ragland; two sisters, Sandra Smith and Linda Camp; her brother, James Grover Ragland; and her daughter, Denise Guthrie.
The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 2nd, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
