Lloyd, through Diane, became an important part of our family.

Living in California, I needed to arrange for a caregiver for mom after she broke her hip. My dad was not happy about this. Both had been independent and wanted to stay that way. For all who know Diane – you know she charmed both and became a trusted friend. I was able to return to my family in California - leaving mom and dad in good hands. It wasn’t long before Diane introduced Lloyd and the friendship between families deepened.

After mom recovered and no longer needed help, Diane and Lloyd would regularly visit and make sure both were ok. When dad was sick before he died, Diane stayed by mom’s side. Several years later, mom once again became dependent on Diane for daily help. While this sounds like a memory about Diane – it is also one about Lloyd’s love. He shared his Diane and never complained that she spent hours tending to mom. It was his a gift of love to all of us. He loved "Ms, Mildred" and she loved him.

Lloyd made regular visits to check in on mom when she was in assisted living. He would come with his large Coke in an Alabama tumbler and add cheer in his special giving way.

Lloyd was also there for me. He helped me know that mom was safe and living out her life in the independent way she wanted. I looked forward to seeing him on each visit home. My visits got more and more frequent during the last year of mom’s life and Lloyd, even when he was not feeling great, was there to keep us going. He was a dear person who cared deeply for all he loved.

Lloyd, you will be missed. Diane, Lloyd Jr, and Denise may you find peace knowing Lloyd is with God.
All my love, Mary Louise
