Lois Virginia Doss

Age 85 of Warrior, Alabama, stepped into Heaven on January 5, 2012. Our mother was a righteous and remarkable woman who brought sparkle into the lives of those around her. She was a faithful member of Kimberly Church of God, loving wife and mother, and faithful friend and travel companion. Throughout her life, she worked with Ladies Ministries and actively volunteered in the Food Bank Ministries. She put her faith in Jesus into action in her church and in her community. She is survived by her loving daughters and son-in-laws: Linda Butler, Barbara Lucas (Ronald), and Wanda Meadows (Bobby); her three grandchildren: Kevin Butler (Debbie), Drs. April Lucas Ponder (Mark), and Jason Butler (Kristi); her five great grandchildren: Brittanie Butler, Edward Ponder, Daniel Butler, David Butler, and Dylan Butler; her two step grandchildren: Tyffani and Savannah Sturgill; one brother, Jerry Bullard (Ethelene); and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved church family, many friends, and her traveling companions: Jimmie and Cindy McAnnally and Larry Morton. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey U. Doss; parents: Jefferson Davis Bullard (Clara); brothers: Eugene Bullard (Marie), Julius Bullard (Maydale), and Troy Bullard (Evie). She is also preceded in death by our traveling companion, Jane Morton. The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel in Gardendale on Saturday, January 7 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The funeral will be at Kimberly Church of God in Kimberly on January 8 at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Stewart’s Chapel Cemetery, Hayden, AL following the funeral. The family extends special thanks to the St. Vincent’s East nursing staff, Life Care Hospice, and nurse Debbie; Doctors Takeshin, Simpson, Lakhanpal, Dey, Jones, and Patton; along with the nursing staff and technicians for their excellent service to our loving mother who is now home with Jesus.
