Barry was a loyal and very hardworking man with a giving spirit, always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He would go above and beyond for his family and friends and always had the best sense of humor with an endless supply of Dad jokes.
Barry was born on April 19, 1953, and grew up in Cullman, AL with his parents Kyle and Dot Baggett and six siblings. He loved growing up in the country and worked hard on their family farm. He attended West Point High School and then majored in civil engineering at The University of Alabama and continued to be the biggest Roll Tide fan. Barry met his wife, Dell, at church. They were married in 1983 and raised their three daughters in Gardendale.
Barry loved fishing, watching football, traveling, and above all, spending time with friends and family. In his spare time, he was known as the “neighborhood handyman,” always willing to lend a hand to a friend with their latest home project. He found great satisfaction in hard work and loved seeing how a project could be transformed from start to finish. He had no fear of heights and would voluntarily climb the highest ladder to finish any painting project. If you were riding in the car with Barry, he would turn on his favorite oldies tunes: The Four Seasons, Elvis, or The Beatles. On the weekends, you could find him relaxing in his La-Z-Boy chair, eating peanut M&Ms, and taking a snooze. He was a hot sauce connoisseur and even perfected his own recipe and always said the hotter, the better.
Barry’s pride and joy was his family. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and brother. He never missed an opportunity to brag about his girls. His priority was to ensure his family was always taken care of and knew how loved they were. Barry never missed a single softball game, piano recital, volleyball game, or football game his girls cheered at. He taught us how to prioritize the people you love and always show it. His friendships meant so much to him, and the way he showed up for the people he cared about spoke volumes about how deeply he valued them. He was an absolute hero to his two grandchildren, Penny and Luke, who lovingly knew him as “Pop.” He played endless games of hide-and-seek, read countless books, and filled their time together with the kind of infectious laughter only Pop could create. They were, without a doubt, two of his favorite people in the world.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dell; his daughters, Jenny Baggett, Sara Baggett, and Lisa Aultman (Joey); his beloved grandchildren, Penny and Luke; his siblings, Richard Baggett (Sherry), Bruce Baggett, Roger Baggett, Donna Baggett, Heather Baggett, and Renee King (Rick); sister-in-law, Leta Wright, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away". - (Revelation 21:4)
