On April 16, 1948 she married Garland Owens who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Earl Washington; sisters, Ruth Hamrick and Margaret Thompson.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Broadhead of Rogersville, AL and son, Mark Owens (Sharon) of Morris, AL; three grandchildren, Tracy Graves (Martin Beaumel) of Middleton, CT, Ben Owens (Amy) of Mount Olive, AL and Becky Owens of Jasper, AL along with four great-grandchildren, Jade, Lily, Gabby and Owen.
Louise was an elementary school teacher in Corner, Gardendale and Warrior, Alabama and Auburndale, Florida. She enjoyed her family, reading, knitting and painting.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregiver, Rose Ann Smith for her home care and to Nesha Lomax at Fair Haven Nursing Home for her care during Louise's final days.
A visitation for Louise will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Serving as pallbearers will be; Ben Owens, Wade Gilliland, Dawson McLeod, James McLeod, Charles Posey, Jason Woodard, and honorary pallbearer Owen Archer.
