Marianne Branham Smith, of Gardendale (former resident of Tarrant City), passed away on August 13, 2026, at the age of 97. Marianne was born on August 15th, 1928 and lived many years in Tarrant City before moving to Gardendale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley B Smith; her parents, Eddie E. and Eva Branham; sisters, Elizabeth Elsberry, and Jean McChesney; brothers, Ernest, Don, Lee, Edward and Richard Branham; son-in-law, William (Bill) Walker and granddaughter, Sheri Walker Morgan.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Walker; her son Kirk Smith (Laura); 4 grandchildren, Kim Cutler (Steve), Kelly Haynie (Billy), Bill Walker, Maria Harbison (Matt); several great and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marianne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She gave so much of herself from a young age and through her adult life to help others. Marianne had a brave and strong soul. She recognized and enjoyed the simple pleasures in her daily life. The love she had in her heart for her family and the importance of time spent together were evident. Her presence on this earth will be dearly missed, and her sweet spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, US, on August 16, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
