Marion Arnold Clevenger, a resident of Maplesville, Alabama, was born in Gardendale, Alabama on August 14, 1935 and he went home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2018 at the age of 82. Marion proudly served our country in the United States Navy for eight years. He was a truck driver and retired in 1998 after many years of driving. He was a member of the Calvary Hill Church of God, in Jemison, Alabama. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he loved his family dearly and cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He will be greatly missed.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents, John Dennis and Mamie Clevenger; three brothers, Tuff Clevenger, Melvin Clevenger, and Leon Clevenger; one sister, Louise Durham.
Marion is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nell Young Clevenger; six children, David Clevenger and his wife Teresa, Donna Channell and her husband, Randell, Dr./Rev Steve Clevenger and his wife Penny, Stanley Clevenger and his wife Bonnie, Kimberly Helfinstone and her husband Rev. Wally, Kandie Herring and her husband Randy who are missionaries; two brothers, Charles Clevenger and John Dennis “J.D.” Clevenger and his wife Annie; two sisters, Shirley Holland and her husband Dudley and Betty Goodwin and her husband Butch; fifteen grandchildren, Lane, Clint, Cody, Stephon, Shay, Todd, Austin, Matt, Drew, Kelli, Kaleb, Kandace, Noah, Jennifer, and Chris; eighteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Friday, April 20, 2018, with a visitation to begin at 11:00am; funeral service at 12:00noon, followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, Alabama.
