Marvin Earl “Butch” Thomas, of Gardendale was born on November 6, 1943 and passed away on August 17, 2016 at the age of 72. Butch was the Scout Master for Troop 120 in Pleasant Grove for 12 years and retired from US Steel and Jim Walter Resources #7 Coal Mines. He currently served in the Central Alabama Koi Club and on the Gardendale Beautification Commission and helped with several gardening clubs.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Margie Teer Thomas; two sons, Joe (Michelle) Thomas and John Thomas; one daughter, Mickie Thomas; 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 22 beginning at 10AM at Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church with the service at 11AM with Bro. Doug Moore officiating.
