Mary Alice (Hodges) Crowley

Mary Alice Hodges Crowley, age 69, of Gardendale, AL, passed away on June 18, 2025. Born on March 5th, 1956 in Birmingham, Al to Mary Ruth Long Hodges and Edgar Ira Hodges, she grew up in the Fieldstown / Gardendale community.

She attended Gardendale High School and was a retired warehouse supervisor in her later years. Mary was a loving wife, devoted mother, nana, and great-nana, cherished sister, and loyal friend.

Mary was married to her best friend and love of her life, Mitchell Crowley on February 12th, 1973. They made their home in Gardendale, AL where they raised two children, Tony Crowley and Angela Fincher. This past February they celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Mary found her greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life spending time with her beloved family, walking trails in the sunshine, soaking up the sun on the beach, and enjoying the outdoors with her faithful dog Dolly May and grand-dog Bella. Her warmth, strength, and kindness touched everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Kerry 'Mitchell' Crowley; her daughter, Angela Fincher (Tommy); her son, Tony Crowley (Jennifer); grandchildren Monica Jernigan (Tristen), Scott Crowley, and Bodie Fincher; and great-grandson Emerson Jernigan.

She also leaves behind her sisters Barbara Crocker, Ruby Griffis (Paul), and Margaret Tingle (Ronnie); brothers James Hodges (Linda) and Lee Hodges (Becky); sister-in-law Tammy Hodges; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Ruth and Edgar Hodges, brothers William (Cheryl) Hodges, Larry Hodges, and brother in law Bobby Crocker.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. The family will receive guests at 12:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 1:00 PM.

Mary will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering love for her family, and the gentle way she made the world a little brighter for those around her.
