

A devoted wife of 60 years to her beloved husband, Roger Mims, Joan was a steadfast and loving mother to Scott Mims and his wife Kim, and Denise Johnson and her husband Brian and her son,Taylor Baggett. Her greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Joan adored her seven grandchildren: Haley James and her husband Jared, Karlee Johnson, Chandler Mims, Savannah Mims, Connor Mims, Parker Mims, and Jeremiah Johnson. She also cherished her great-grandchildren, Aubrie and Cody James.
Joan retired after 30 years of dedicated service at BellSouth and embraced her retirement, relishing in her role as “Gran”. She had a passion for solving word searches, traveling to new destinations, and creating treasured memories with her family. Joan's warm and caring nature left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Nora and Dale O'Connor; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Debby Gilbert; her sister-in-law, Faye Mims; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, with the service beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Adamsville, Alabama.
Joan's memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Her spirit, kindness, and the love she so freely gave will remain in the hearts of those she touched.
