Mary Kathleen Mitchell, age 83 of Gardendale passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert F. Mitchell; parents, Burtis and Gertie McMurray; brother, Carl McMurray; sisters, Clara Lockledge, Betty Sargent, and Ruby McLeroy. She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Jennifer (Bradley) Payton, and Linda (Darryl) Fields; grandchildren, Emily Payton, Jacob Payton, Alisha (David) Moore, and Darrick (Brandy) Fields; great grandchildren, Madison Fields, Makayla Fields, and Nicholas Moore; a sister, Shelby Henson; also, a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending her time with her family. She was very much loved and will be dearly missed. She was a member of the Calcedonia Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 4th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Warrior, Al. Brother Danny Miller will officiate the service.
