Merell Travis Purser, age 64 of Mount Olive, AL passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Merell served his country proudly as a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an active member of The Olive Grove United Methodist Church and was a mason in the Mt. Olive Masonic Lodge #8. Merell had retired from the Merita Bakery in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sally Smith and Travis Purser; brothers, Terry Purser and Bobby Purser; and his sisters, Doris Leach and Peggy Purser. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 43 years, Sherry Purser; two daughters, Brandy Davis (Robbie) and Misty Parsons (Eric); brothers, Randy Purser, and Larry Purser; sisters, Marsha Martin and Rena Purser; step brother, Andy Estes; his grandchildren, Katelyn Davis and Kourtney Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel at 2 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
