Myrom Bowman

Mary Myrom Bowman, age 90, of Gardendale, Alabama passed away on Sunday May 10, 2020. Mary was born June 13, 1929 in Calhoun, TN to the late Roy and Opal Shelton. Myrom was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years Mr. Richard C. Bowman and her sister Leona Barham (Allen) and a brother Victor Shelton . They were married for 52 years until his death in 2003. They made their home in Chattanooga, TN until they both retired then moved back to her birthplace in 1985. They loved the country life and attending Calhoun First Baptist Church. She is survived by her only daughter Karen Belcher (Derek) and their children Jason, his wife Dana, and their son Caleb. Our daughter Kari Spears, her husband Clint, and their children Hutton and Kardyn. She is also survived by her two sisters Jane Green (Wesley) and Phyllis Kellam and her two brothers Roy Shelton (Wilma) and Phillip Shelton (Cindy). She was a registered nurse for over 40 years, she graduated from Baroness Erlanger Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She loved nursing and it was very much her calling in life. She moved to Birmingham in 2004 after the death of my father and was an active member of Mount Olive First Baptist Church, she loved the members of her Sunday school class there. She was a great cook, loved sewing and very much loved her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, May 14, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071.
