Neil F. Campbell

Neil Franklin Campbell, born June 24th, 1929, passed away at the age of 92 on August 15th, 2021. He was a member of Mt. High Baptist Church and a Founding member/volunteer with Mt. High Volunteer Fire Department. Neil was an avid bowler and enjoyed serving as a member and officer of the Greater Birmingham Bowling Association and the Southern Bowling Congress. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame of both groups. He was the Director of Southeast Bowling Association, as well as Director and Life Member of Alabama State Bowling Association. He was a charter member of the Hayden Lions Club. He was awarded the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Club International. Neil also served on the Blount County Board of Education for eighteen years with twelve years as Chairman. He was retired from Alabama by Products Corporation and Enterprise. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Sims Campbell; his parents, Claud and Ruby Campbell; brother, Coy; daughter, Teresia Wiginton; son in law, Charles “Mack” Chaviers; and granddaughter, Tricia Wiginton Hopkins.

Survivors include daughters, Debra (John) Chaviers and Karen (Donald) Calvert; son in law, Lynn Wiginton; Mississippi Daughter, Rita (Buddy) Sennett; grandchildren, Denny Wiginton, Christy (Matt) Stultz, Kaci (Jordan) Boyd, Karli Jinright, Cody Calvert, Caleb (Victoria) Calvert; brother, Jimmie (Peggy) Campbell; Sister, Janice (Larry) Russell; great grandchildren, Tyler (Deven) Martens, DeAnn Hopkins, David Hopkins, Stella Foster, Sutton Calvert, and Harper Silas; and a host of Family and Friends.

Visitation will be held on August 19th, 2021, at 10 am at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. Service will follow immediately after at 11 am. Entombment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
