

In1951, Norman proudly served his country in the Korean War (1951-1960), demonstrating the strength, courage, and integrity that defined his life. That same year he married the love of his life, Vazelle Clayton, and together they shared 74 wonderful years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and family.
Following his military service, Norman began his career in construction work alongside his brother George T. Crawford. In the early 1960's, he transitioned into refrigeration work, where he found his lifelong profession. He was employed with Icemakers Inc. for 25 years and retired in 1990, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, skill, and dedication.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his six brothers, one sister, and his beloved daughter Kathy Crawford.
He is survived by his loving wife Vazelle Crawford: his son Randy and wife Tammie; three cherished grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and one sister, who continue to honor his memory and carry forward his legacy of love, faith, and perseverance.
Norman will be remembered for his strong ethic, his quiet kindness, and the unwavering love he had for his family. His life was one of dedication- to his family, his faith, and his country- and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, located at 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, on November 5, 2025, beginning at 1:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm.
Norman Edgar Crawford will be laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale.
