

Patricia Gafford Harden went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2019. Patsy was born in Gardendale on February 8, 1929. She graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School and was employed for over fifty years as a bookkeeper. She was active in the community as a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and many other organizations, including square dancing and camping clubs. As a lifelong member of Gardendale First Baptist Church, she enjoyed mission trips, singing in the choir, and especially working in the nursery. She always loved to be around babies and her favorite title was Grandma.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Lee Harden, Jr., her parents, Grover and Ludie Gafford, and several sisters and brothers, and nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister Ludie Gafford Hughes, her brother Larry Gafford (Connie), her two daughters LeAnn Blackman (Greg) and Jennie Duffner (David), and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Her most favorite blessings are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Jonathan Belcher (Brandi), Tyler Belcher (Tina), Ryan Duffner (Anya), Sady Mauldin (Jacob), Seth Blackman (Carmen), Josy Duffner, and Kalie Blackman. Her great-grandchildren are Jon Marc Belcher, Blake Belcher, Arden Mauldin, Brady Belcher, Barrett Belcher, Penn Mauldin, Samuel Belcher, and Nina Duffner.
She had a servant’s heart and was a blessing to all around her and her life will be celebrated on Thursday, November 14th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. and a reception afterwards. A procession will begin at 1:30 p.m. to Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham for a graveside service.
