Paul M Campbell Sr.

Maj. Paul Michael Campbell, Sr. went to join his beloved Joyce on September 15, 2026, at the age of 96. He was a resident of Quinton, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wives Betty Joyce Howell Campbell and Edna Mae Davidson Campbell, his parents, Johnie Daniel Campbell and Mary Lou Trillie Estes Campbell, brothers, Charles Austin Campbell, Terry Wayne Campbell, J.C. Campbell, Billy Frece Campbell and sisters, Bobbie Jean Campbell, Carolyn Marie Dexter, Mary Magdelene Campbell and Velma Fay Alexander, grandson Christopher Lucas King and granddaughter Elizabeth Mary Jean Campbell.

He was born on July 5, 1930, in Dora, Alabama. He was the oldest of 12 children. He entered the U.S. Army in 1948 and proudly served for 22 years, including the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Germany, and the United States, rising to the rank of Major, receiving numerous awards and medals, including the Bronze Star and Silver Star.

He married Betty Joyce Howell on February 17, 1953, and was a loving husband for 51 years; together they raised 3 children. He married Edna Mae Davidson Sexton on June 20, 2009, and was a loving husband for 6 years. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Braves baseball, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and playing with his dogs, Fritz and Alayna. His favorite pastime was visiting with his great-grandkids, whom he adored and who adored him.

He is survived by his children, Paul Michael Campbell, II, Debra Joyce Campbell and Paula Jean Campbell King (Larry), his grandchildren Paul Michael Campbell III (Amanda), Michael David Cochran (Tracy), Joshua Alexander Cochran, Taylor Danielle King (Adam), Larry Douglas King II, Katlyn Breanna King Boyles (Justin), and great grandchildren Zane Paul Campbell, Logan Reyna Campbell, Jacob Wyatt Cochran, Walter Warren Boeckler, Drew Jordyn King, Caroline Jane Sims, Amelia Harper Sims, Adelita Belle Boyles, Wilson Fredrick Boyles, Gabriel Lucas King and Journee Rose King, brothers Delane Campbell and Larry Campbell (Donna), sister Anna Gassner and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Campbell will be held on Saturday September 19th at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel located at 2029 Decatur Highway. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with services immediately following at noon.
