Paulla was born on July 18, 1951, the first child of Reedie and JoAnn Culpepper. She grew up in Eastlake, graduated from Woodlawn High School, and attended the University of Montevallo. She worked for Ernst and Young in both Atlanta and Dallas and retired after 36 years of faithful service. Prior to returning to Birmingham in 2017, she lived in Kerrville, TX.

She was a voracious reader who loved travel, the Atlanta Braves, and the Auburn Tigers. Most of all, she loved her friends, her family, and the dogs she had over the years: Muffin, Keri, Sam, and Bella.
Paulla was married to the late Paul Manikowski of Dallas for 25 years. She is also preceded in death by her father, James Reedie Culpepper.
She is survived by her mother, JoAnn Culpepper; brother, Les Culpepper (Angela); niece, Brooke Miller (Josh); nephew, Rob Culpepper; great niece, Emory Miller; aunts, Bobbi Crowe and Sarah Little; and numerous cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale AL 35071, on Wednesday, March 28, at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
