Peggy Jean Bailey

Peggy Jean Bailey, age 84 passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. She was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania to the late Leroy Clifford Lacey and Bertha Mae Shook Lacey on October 17, 1938. She moved to Birmingham and Fultondale became home for many years. Peggy loved to serve others and thought of everyone before herself. She was not one to complain and was as tough as an “iron skillet.”

Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Franklin “Frankie” Bailey; and her beloved cat, Navvy. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Bard and fiancé, Richard Pond; her grandson, Blain Bard, stepdaughter, Windy Bailey Davis Glasglow and daughters; and many siblings in Pennsylvania -- Debbie, Thomas, Donald, William (Bill), Richard, Melvin, James, and Raymond.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Graveside will take place at 2:30 pm at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
