

Phillis Carol Handley was born and raised in New Georgia, Alabama. Attended Phillips High School and was a member of New Georgia Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Ronald Wayne Handley on November 11, 1964. She started her benevolent journey as a Candy Striper at Carraway Hospital. Although her occupation was a hairstylist for 49 years, her true calling was to show the love and compassion of Jesus to everyone around her. After she retired as a hairstylist, she became a caregiver working with Marcie Vandergrift a longtime friend.
Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Moses McGuirk and Nora Lillian McGuirk; a brother, John Gilbert McGuirk; and twin grandchildren, Hunter Allen Handley and Megan Elizabeth Handley.
Phillis is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Wayne Handley, Sr.; two sons, Stephen Craig Handley and his wife Dana Handley and Ronald Wayne Handley, Jr.; a brother, Arthur Jerry McGuirk; a sister, Sharon Gail McGuirk Bailey; grandchildren, Austin Taylor Handley, Blake Neal Handley, Jaden Mariah Handley, and Jacob Samuel Handley; brothers-in-law, Ronnie L. Bailey and Gary Dean Handley and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services for Phillis will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A time of visitation will begin at 1:00 AM; funeral service at 2:00 PM, followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
