Rachel Franks

Rachel was born May 11, 1937 to James Rufus and Viola Hayes Shadrix in Blount County of Alabama. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked until she retired from the food retail industry and made many wonderful friends through the years. She loved traveling with her family on vacations and she loved Christmas and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved her two dogs Chico and Lil Bit who have since passed. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Rachel is preceded in death by her late husband, T.J. Franks; son, Jeff Franks; parents, Rufus and Viola Shadrix; brothers, R B, Otis, J V, and Dillard Shadrix; sisters Alcester Marsh, Annie Mae Butts, and Pauline Price.

Rachel is survived by her daughter Debbie Franks Rickett and her son John Franks. Six grandsons: Joseph (LIz) Crump, Josh (Stephanie) Franks, Zach (Carlee) Franks, Seth (Destanee) Franks, Tyler Franks and Matt Franks. Three great grandsons: Kashton, Cruz and Wyatt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Services for Rachel will be held Monday, July 10, 2023 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. Visitation wil be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM; Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Following the funeral there will be a Committal Service at High Rock Cemetery, 1460 High Rock Road, Hayden, AL 35079.
